South Carolina Plantations

History

Daniel Heyward Sr. (1720-1777) owned and lived on Old House Plantation in Beaufort County, South Carolina. His will names a number of his properties. Though he does not specifically name Old House Plantation, he does state that the plantation property and all on it will be available to his wife after his death. His will was written in 1776 showing that he had purchased the property before that time. Heyward's will states his plantation contains 764 1/2 acres originally granted to Thomas Broughton.[1]
