Olympics - Team Chile

Background

Chile’s initial Olympic appearance came in 1912. Since that time, it has missed only the Olympic Games of 1932 and 1980. Chile formed its National Olympic Committee in 1934 and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in the same year. Chilean athletes have won 13 Olympic medals, two gold (both in 2004), seven silver and four bronze. The first silver medal was won in the Marathon by Manuel Plaza in 1928.

Chile first competed at the Olympic Winter Games of 1948 and has participated at most subsequent Olympic Winter Games, missing those of 1972 and 1980, and appearing at 18 Winter celebrations overall. To date, they have competed only in skiing-related disciplines – Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, and freestyle skiing.^[1]

This is an ongoing project to ensure that all Olympians who represented Chile are on Wikitree.
