Olympics - Team Monaco

Background

Monaco first competed at the 1920 Olympic Games, and has since missed only the Games of 1932 (although they had art entrants that year), 1956, and 1980.

No Monegasque athlete has won a medal in a sporting event, but, in 1924, Julien Médécin won a bronze medal in the architecture portion of the now-defunct Art Contests. In the sporting events, Monaco’s best results have come in the sport of judo, with Yann Siccardi (in the 2012 men’s extra-lightweight class) and Cédric Bessi (in the 2020 men’s lightweight class) both finishing equal ninth.

Since first competing at the Olympic Winter Games in 1984, they have been represented at each of the subsequent Winter Olympics.[1]

This is an ongoing project to ensure that all Olympians who represented Monaco are on Wikitree.

  • Connected to their family
  • Connected to the Global Tree, if possible
  • With profiles that have biographical, family, and sporting information
  • Well sourced
