Olympics - Team Panama

Background

Panama was represented at the Olympic Games in 1928, 1948, and 1952, each time by a single athlete. The National Olympic Committee was founded in 1934, but International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognition was not granted until 1947. It has sent larger contingents since 1960, missing only the 1980 Moskva Olympics. It has never competed at the Olympic Winter Games.

The country has won three Olympic medals. Two of these were won by its lone competitor in 1948, Lloyd LaBeach, who won two sprinting bronzes. In 2008, long jumper Irving Saladino earned Panama’s first Olympic gold medal.[1]

This is an ongoing project to ensure that all Olympians who represented Panama are on Wikitree.
