This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about one surname and the variants of that name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.

Twitchin is an old English locative name meaning a fork in the pathway or a division between two properties and similar.It is still in use in some counties mainly in the South and Southwest but not exclusively as there is some usage in the North. Other variants are Twitchell;Twitchett etc.
