Orient, 1848 Parkhurst Boys 47 |
The Orient is said to have left the Isle of Wight on November 23, 1847 and to have arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia on March 20, 1848. In all, she was said to have carried 73 passengers and the 51 Parkhurst boys who embarked at the Isle of Wight were among that number.
The boys were listed in Paul Buddee's book, Fate of the Artful Dodger and in Andrew Gill's later work, Forced Labour for the West.
