Family Origins

The Booth/Kidd family was originally from County Londonderry, Ireland (around the area of Bovevagh). Some sources say they may have been of English descent. I also believe they may be of Scottish descent as well. I've found many references to them being of the Baptist religion.

Immigration

Many of the family members immigrated to the US in the mid to late 1800's. The majority of them seemed to settle in the Blackstone area of Worcester County, Massachusetts.

Blackstone, Massachusetts

The family in Massachusetts owned a wool firm called "Booth and Kidd". It seems that many members of the family were employed there.

Dunn County, Wisconsin

A branch of the Booth/Kidd family left Massachusetts and settled in the Dunn County area of Wisconsin. Nancy Kidd (nee Booth) and at least 3 of her children.

Monticello, Iowa

One of Nancy Kidd (nee Booth)'s sons, Hugh Kidd, left Massacusetts for Monticello, Iowa. He had only one child, Ida Ann Miller (nee Kidd), who died of complications of childbirth. Ida's child died shortly after she did.

Lewiston, Idaho

Benjamin Booth moved to Lewiston, Idaho from Millville, Massachusetts in 1885.

Pocatello, Idaho

William R Kidd left his birth place of Colfax, Wisconsin and moved to Pocatello, Idaho.

San Francisco, California

According to a wedding announcement in the Dunn County News (11 Oct 1895, pg 5) for Mary Mittlesdorf (nee Powers), one of Nancy Kidd (nee Booth)'s granddaughters, there was a "Mr and Mrs Booth of San Francisco, California". So far no identifying info for this couple has been found.
