INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Chart A, Pages Completed from Find-a-Grave it is organized by surname letter and number of pages. It indicates which letter/page number combination has been completed. ("Done" means all soldiers within that letter have profiles created). When you have completed a page, note it on Chart A.
  2. Chart B Worktable for Soldiers is a layout of participants and letter/pages chosen. There are three columns. "Your ID," "Notes," and "ID's for Soldiers Created." The Worktable is for you-- the member-- to keep track of where your working, if you need to pause your research for a time, you will always know where to begin again.
    1. Look at Chart A to see what Surnames need work, click Andersonville National Cemetery Find-a-Grave. For "Last Name," add the letter you have chosen from Chart A (e.g., "J"), For "Year Died" enter 1864 which will output surnames for that letter. The search result will show the number of pages for that letter. If you have chosen a multi-page letter, scroll down to an available page (check Chart A). Each page will show FAGM entries of soldiers who died at Andersonville in 1864.
    2. In the Your ID column, add your Wikitree ID (example: [[Kreutzer-114|Pam Kreutzer]]).
    3. In the Notes Column list what surname letter and pages you will be working on. As you complete each page, make a note in the column: (e.g., J pg 1, completed). Add the letter/page information for the next group that you have chosen (e.g., J pg 2). Repeat the procedures.
    4. In the ID's for Soldiers Created column, Add the page number your working on, then add the names of all soldiers from that page. As an example: add the names of page 1 soldiers for "J" in the ID's for Soldiers Created column. When all soldier profiles have been completed for that page, in the ID's for Soldiers Created column, you can remove the completed profiles. In Chart A under the appropriate letter, indicate that this page is completed (e.g., J pg. 1). Then you can begin the next page your working on example: page 2, list soldiers your working on.
IMPORTANT: The Categories/Sticker Section will show you what Categories and Stickers to include on the soldier profiles, please review before creating profiles!!!

Just stumbled upon a profile that fits here while adding colonial members of families not too distant from my own--Azro B. Stiles, Stiles-5752. Still mostly a stub, but it's better than nothing, I figure.

Hi Ellis, I've added categories and stickers to his profile, thank you for finding him for us.

Thank you Pam & Connie….

The profiles look amazing - Thank You!! I’ve roughed in Willard Morse (1836-1864). Still trying to get a backstory for his bio. I’ll use Ezra’s profile as an example of the right way :)

Hi K, on the sticker for side=, use USA instead of Union, then you won't end up with an error message.

Good Morning…

I added Ezra Morse (1846-1864) and connected him to his parents and brother. :) Couldn’t figure out how to add the pg w/ Morse, so thought I’d plug away anyway. (I’m neck-deep in the Morse name study & look at these families everyday, esp NY.).

I’m not great w/ categories & stickers yet. Plz LMK if there’s something I missed. (Didn’t add the Died of Disease sticker-didn’t want to be redundant.)

And on this weekend especially… From an old veteran, let me thank everyone in this project from the bottom of my old Grinch heart for remembering….

I would like to work on "Pa" profiles. They are under P page 1-8 on FindAGrave.

Hi, I added the P's on the chart for you. We're going to do the worktable chart B, a bit different then the Challenge worksheet. We will work through one page at a time, when that page is finished we will remove those soldiers (since they are on the Category: Andersonville National Cemetery) we don't need to keep them on the worksheet, So when you've finished with Thompson, you'll remove them from the Chart and start on the P's.

On Chart A, when you've finished page 1 of the "P's" on the P space, you'll type Pg 1, then when each page is done you'll mark Pg 1-2 or Pg 1-3, etc.

To keep count of the profiles you've finished under Participants, you'll see your name and you can type in how many profiles you've created: example: Thompson (3); Pa pg 1 (20), etc.

I will keep adding profiles here. I didn't get through all the Thompsons during the challenge in April. I have completed 34/52 (4/27/2023)
