Background

This profile is part of the Edisto Island, South Carolina One Place Study.

Palmetto Plantation, located on Edisto Island and not to be confused with Palmetto Plantation of North Charleston, was a 206 acre plantation owned by Constantine Bailey. In some sources, it is known as "Rescue".[1]

Bailey, also known as "Con", lived elsewhere. [2][3]

By 1866 the Palmetto Plantation was going to be sold in a Sheriff's sale.[4]
