Background
Palmetto Plantation, located on Edisto Island and not to be confused with Palmetto Plantation of North Charleston, was a 206 acre plantation owned by Constantine Bailey. In some sources, it is known as "Rescue".[1]
Bailey, also known as "Con", lived elsewhere. [2][3]
By 1866 the Palmetto Plantation was going to be sold in a Sheriff's sale.[4]
