Huish Episcopi Parish Registers; D\P\h.ep/2/1/2; Page 27-29; Somerset Aechives

Transcribed by Nicholas Adams.

It appears that in the year 1801 an
omission of the registration of Walter
Sawtele's baptism has been
made - I certify that James
Sawtele brother of Walter Sawtele
usually residing at Bale's pond, in
the parish of St. Mary Islington
near London has in my presence
identified the said Walter Sawtele
as his brother, the son of Thomas
and Mary Sawtele deceased,
that he believes he was born in
the month of May 1801 - I certify
that I have seen & examined
Joseph Sawtele of Wearne in
the parish of Huish Episcopi, yeoman
that he has identified the said
Walter Sawtele as his nephew
the son of Thomas & Mary Sawtele
both deceased; that to the best
of his belief the said Walter
Sawtele was born in the
month of May 1801, that he
perfectly well remembers being

present as one of his sponsors at
his baptism in the church of
Huish Episcopi which church took
place in the latter part of
June 1801 on the day that
Thomas Sawtele the father
of the said Walter had his
annual Sheep Shearing -
Witness my hand the
5" day of February 1856
