Civil War

Joseph Pious (aka Joseph Paris) was a Private in Co. B of the 120th U.S. Colored Infantry. He enlisted on 24-Nov-1864 in Owensboro, Ky. He was mustered in on 24-Nov-1864 in Owensboro, Ky. He was hospitalized in Jefferson General Hospital, Jefferson, IN for scrofulosis in 10-Aug-1865. He was discharged on 4-Dec-1865 in Jefferson, Indiana. He was 40 years old when he enlisted, was a farmer and was 5’7.5” tall. He was born in Washington Co., Kentucky. His former slave owner was Patrick Clemens of Morganfield, Ky. He was the father of Susan Clemens.^[38]
