The Peer Gynt Prize is a private Norwegian Prize presented annually starting in 1971 to a person or institution that has "achieved distinction in society and contributed to improving Norway's international reputation" as determined by Peer Gynt AS on behalf of the representatives of the Storting.[1]
The award is presented at the Peer Gynt festival, which has been held in August since 1928, the centennial of Henrik Ibsen's birth.
