Biography
Margaret (Peg), daughter of Martin Lynch and Margaret Unknown, was born about 1837-1840 in County Limerick, Ireland. The birthplace on her death certificate looks like "Ratearnon." (The closest matching parish name in Limerick would be Rathronan.) The birth year of 1840 comes from her tombstone and does not agree with the age of 56 at the time of her death.
In the Ireland, Griffith's Valuation, 1847-1864, Patrick (and Margaret) were residing in Newtown South, Shandrum, County Cork, Ireland.[1]
According to her son Martin's naturalization record, the family immigrated on the Grecian Allen Line when he was 5 years old. They landed in Massina Springs, New York on or about 10 October 1882.[2] Although the immigration record has not been found, presumably Margaret and her other minor children were all together.
Oddly, in 1891, Margaret Lynch Harrigan and several of Margaret's children were living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada next to her daughter's family (Timothy Murphy and Mary Harrigan) while her husband, Patrick, was apparently in the United States since 1888.[3]
