This county, the latest established in the state, November 23, 1910, was named in honor of Edmund Pennington, of Minneapolis. He was born in La Salle, Illinois, September 16, 1848; began his life work in railroad service in 1869; was since 1888 successively superintendent, general manager, and vice president of the Minneapolis, St Paul and Sault Ste.[1]
