Pickett County History
Pickett County was formed in 1879, from parts of Fentress and Overton counties. It was named after Howell Lester Pickett, who represented Wilson County in the state legislature.

Pickett County is part of Middle Tennessee, one of Tennessee's Three Grand Divisions. These divisions are not only geographic, but also cultural and defined in state law. Pickett County is also part of the Central Region of Appalachia.
