Introduction
John Floyd (1769-1839) was born on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He owned several properties in Georgia, some of which were plantations where enslaved people worked. The majority of his properties were in Camden County. This page's purpose is to help connect the people John Floyd enslaved with their families. There is also a related space page named Slaves of John Floyd, Georgia.
Properties
John and his father Charles Floyd purchased many different properties over the years. The total amount of land they both acquired was at least 5,825 acres in size and the area became known as Floyd's Neck in Camden County, Georgia by 1809.[1] Most information is from "Floyd Property" by Marguerite Marre Evans Mathews, the rest is from "Camden County, Georgia Court House Records" by Folks Huxford.
