History

Sebastian Dold bought Plattenhof around 1590.[2]

Among his descendants was Jacobus Dold/Doldt, who died in 1683.[3] His son Clemens Dold and his wife Maria sold the property in 1796 for 32 000 guilders to Sophie von Hinterfad and lieutenant colonel ("Oberstleutnant") Wilhelm von Brandenstein, her son-in-law.[4] Clemens became innkeeper in Freiburg.[2]

In 1814, after the death of Sophia Maria von Hinterfad (1752-1813), the half of the farm belonging to her was put to auction.[5]

Meanwhile the owner family again carries the name Dold.

Research notes

Fire in 1884?

According to a newspaper notice in "Der Landbote" fires burned down "Plattenhof near St. Märgen" and "Brosihof near St. Peter" nearly at the same time in New Year's night of 1884. [6] Freiburger Zeitung, however, claims that "Mattenhof near St. Märgen" burned down.[7] Breisgauer Zeitung only mentions Brosihof, but knows that a 17 year old boy from Glottertal was to blame for the fire.[8]
