To the Honorable James Pitot, Parish Judge, of the Parish and City of New Orleans--
The petition of Sarah Nicholson f.w.c. in the suit v. Captain Edward Livingston Thompson
respectfully prays for an order from your Honor to take the testimony of certain witnesses now in the City of New Orleans, and one of whom is going sea--after giving notice according to law.

This day Thomas Spellman Lloyd made oath that there are several witnesses in the city of N. Orleans who are acquainted with Sarah Nicholson f.w.c the plaintiff in the suit where in E. L. Thompson is Defendant--that one of the persons is about going to sea and the testimony of that person is important to the plaintiff, because he knows the plaintiff to be a free woman.
