Aloha! I've been trying to track down the Prentiss line of my family but have hit a brickwall. My great grandfather was John Rodham Prentiss and his father was John Thomas Prentiss but I have no more info after that. They both lived in brooklyn and John R. moved to Hartford CT.

I have a Prentis mystery of my own if anyone has any info I would love to hear about it. My third great grand father Henry Hamilton "Haddock" Prentis (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Prentis-104) born 8 Apr 1807 in Saint Kitts and Nevis, is i'm sorry to say a dead end for me in our family tree. His father was likely Scottish and had some connection to the plantation Henry was born on, probably owning or managing it, but several people have tried but so far no records have turned up https://www.prenticenet.com/pnet/news/?/news/99/henry_hamilton_prentice_st.kitts_westindies.htm. If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.

Hi Wayne, I appreciate your post, thank you for participating in the study!

As I reviewed the dates and places mentioned, I recalled this man https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Prentis-123 or Robert Prentis (I created the profile today in hopes it would help) who traveled among the British West Indies from ca 1785 to ca 1810. He might be a candidate for your search. He is not one of my relatives, so I don't have much further information, but feel free to ask any questions and I'll see if there is any additional details in my notes.

You may want to consider using the 'move to G2G' option to post the query in the 'The Tree House' G2G category where there may be interest from others studying the region.

This comes from ancestry.com (family tree: walterwitham60). All four of these families had large families of children. There are profiles in WikiTree.com for these people. One is for Henry Prentice b. 1620 in England. He married Joanna Savage. They are supposed to be the original emigrants for these Solomon Prentice ancestors of Margaret Prentice who married Valentine Worley.

Her father was Solomon Prentice b. 1748, married Anna Holbrook, 1752-1778 Her grandfather was Solomon Prentice b. 1705, married Sarah Sartele, 1716-1792 (dau. of Nathaniel Sartell and Sarah Higginson) Her great grandfather was Solomon Prentice b. 1674, married Lydia_______, 1677-1758 Her great, great grandfather was Solomon Prentice b. 1646, married Hephzibah Dunton / Dunn, 1652-1741

Solomon Prentice 1748–1804 BIRTH 13 AUG 1748 • Easton, Bristol, Massachusetts, USA DEATH 23 JAN 1804 • Edenton, Chowan, North Carolina

Solomon Prentice 1705–1773 BIRTH 11 MAY 1705 • Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA DEATH 22 MAY 1773 • Grafton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA

Solomon Prentice 1674–1758 BIRTH 7 JUNE 1674 • Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States of America DEATH 25 JUNE 1758 • Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States of America

Solomon Prentice 1646–1719 BIRTH 23 SEPTEMBER 1646 • Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA DEATH 24 JULY 1719 • Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA

I suspect most of that came from my ancestry site. The Margaret Prentice death notice from Quebec shows that Margaret was 10 months old at death. not the same Margaret Prentice. We have no evidence of her parents. Solomon is a guess at this point.

Margaret Prentiss married Valentine Worley. She was born in 1789 in Edenton, North Carolina and died in Holt Missouri. There is a findagrave memorial for her with the spelling of Prentice, though there is no headstone or record she is buried there. only that her relatives are buried there.

I have not been able to find who her parents are. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Prentice-1884
