United Provinces of New Granada (1810–1819)
Following the wars of independence of 1810 against the Kingdom of Spain, the United Provinces of New Grenada was formed as a country located in South America from 1811 to 1816, a period known as la Patria Boba (the Foolish Fatherland). It was formed from areas of the New Kingdom of Granada and roughly corresponds to the territory of modern-day Colombia. The country was reconquered by Spain in 1816.
