Died John "Devil Jack" Sevier died at sea on ship approaching Charleston, South Carolina while returning home to Tennessee after the Battle of New Orleans in War of 1812. He was General Andrew Jackson's standard bearer. 25 Mar 1815. On a ship from Charleston, South Carolina, heading for Tennessee USA. [11][12][13]
