Prince Hall and African Lodge

Intro

Birth of Prince Hall (where and when born; who were his parents; was he born free, captured and enslaved, or born a slave)

Though his origins are unclear, it is thought that Prince Hall was born into slavery or service. By 1770 he was free and literate and had, in fact, always been thought of as a free man. He was an abolitionist and the founder of Prince Hall Freemasonry[1]
