Persons named Proctor in Southern Maryland (St. Mary's, Charles, Calvert, and Prince George's Counties) appear frequently to be a mixture of Native American (Piscataway), African, and European ethnicity. As a distinct group, there was some tendency to keep to themselves, living and intermarrying with others like them. Because they were for the most part poor, records were few.

This profile is intended as an index of names supported by source links, to identify persons named Proctor in Southern Maryland prior to the Civil War in the hopes that genealogical connections between them will be found.
