Puritan Great Migration Profile Improvement Team

If you have helped on a Sourcerer's Challenge, if you're a DataDoctor or a Categorization expert , or if you just prefer to work on one aspect of a profile across the breadth of the project, this team is for you.

Purpose

The PIT crew will improve PGM profiles through adding/correcting source citations, cleaning up old GEDCOMs, correcting DataDoctor errors, and ensuring that each profile has been correctly categorized. They also monitor profile changes via the Activity Feed.

Team Membership

This team is comprised of Puritan Great Migration members who are interested in ensuring that each PGM project-managed profile is complete and accurate, and includes high-quality, well-sourced information. This team addresses specific areas of profile improvement (such as working on DataDoctor errors), and is great for members who prefer to focus on one aspect of profile improvement work. Members of this team may simultaneously work in as many of the groups listed below as they desire.

Tasks

  • Correct Data Doctors suggestions which can be found here.
  • Check the project's activity feed, found here and on the project's Discord server, WikiPGM, on a daily basis to ensure any changes made to project managed profiles were adequately sourced.

Profile Improvement Team Members

Floating Team Members:

  • Activity Feed Monitors: these members are responsible for monitoring the PGM activity feed once daily, checking to ensure that additions, edits or deletions made to project profiles include reliable sourcing and, if they do not, then making any necessary corrections. Any profiles to which the project box has been added should be reported to a project leader so the project may be added as a co-manager. Alert a project leader if significant concern arises due to activity in the feed (e.g., lots of relationship changes, duplicate profiles, etc., created by one WikiTree user). NOTE: Due to the diverse nature of changes often made to profiles, members monitoring the activity feed require the approval of the Project Coordinator or a Leader.

I recently had need to add a PGM maintenance category to a profile. In checking the category, I noticed there are over 400 profiles in the category. Do you want to include this category page in your Tasks list?

I wonder, too, if this category might be the focus of a project "challenge"?

Hi Jillaine, yes....there is no end of profiles that need work! Those that 'need biography' usually wind up with the research team rather than PIT, but that does not necessarily have to be the case. Right now, we are focused on coming up with possible challenges that will support the WT theme this year of 'family connections.' If you have some ideas for that, please let us know.

My understanding from other projects is that if you want team members to be notified of comments on/ changes to this page, they have to at least be on the TL.
