Around 1655, Quakers in Ireland began keeping records of their meetings. Quakers held weekly (local), monthly, quarterly and yearly meetings. Minute books were kept for each monthly meeting.
Today records survive for 17 Irish Quaker monthly meetings. (The number is often reported as 16, because Ballyhagan and Richhill can be considered to be the same meeting; the latter succeeded the former in 1793).
