RAF Bomber Command

RAF Bomber Command

The goal of this project is to record some of the 200,000 people who served in Bomber Command and who about 60,000 died on active service creating an aerial Western Front to hold the line on Nazi expansion and relieve pressure on Russia

Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Geoffrey Raebel.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

  • I edit a quarterly Newsletter and come across the names of boys in their teens and 20's who were killed, leaving desolate parents
  • I don't have time to do more than basic research on their enlistment record and death details
  • I would appreciate the help of others to give memory to these men and women who gave their all for our future
  • Nationalities include Britain, Canada, Australia, NZ, West Indies, South Africa, Rhodesia, India, US and a lot of odd small places of the Empire (except US of course).

Will you join me? Please post a comment here on this page, in G2G using the project tag, or send me a private message. Thanks!

My uncle Eric James (1920-1940) was a member of Bomber Command (RAF Squadron 38) He was killed in action when his plane (a Wellington) was shot down over Ostende in Belgium. He is buried in Ostend, West Flanders (West-Vlaanderen), Belgium with the rest of his crew.
