Background
A 100 acre plantation, a small area once part of Meggett Place Plantation. Near Laurel Hill Plantation.[1]
Originally granted to Henry Bailey in 1698, it was passed on to Ralph Bailey, John Calder, Archibald Calder, and eventually (with gaps in the record) to Edward Whaley Seabrook.
Racoon Island was too small to maintain a big house. It was primarily planted in cotton.
