The Forgotten Cemetery.

The Forgotten Cemetery in Ravenswood was situated behind the Ravenswood School. It was discovered by "Carpentaria Gold" in 2017, during mine expansion work. The graves have been moved to the Ravenswood Cemetery. Nine Adults and Seven Children were moved. Twenty Five deaths are recorded in the Qld BMD 1871-2.

Mary Anne Sot 09/04/1871 36 inflammation of the stomach. Mary Fitzemeyer 27/04/1871 3 days debility after premature birth, d/o John Fitzemeyer and Elizabeth nee Leroyd. Thomas Marryatt 13/05/1871 35 Sailor, committed suicide. James Dann 14/05/1871 28 Sailor, died of asthma. Catherine Jane Smollett 28/05/1871 3 months died from a general debility, d/o Andrew Robert Frazer Smollett and Martha Jane nee O'Neil. Martha d 1873, Qld. Andrew d 1885, Qld..two daus to Martha, dau & 3 sons to Margaret Graham, 2nd wife. There must be another cemetery nearby..rest of family not in Ravenswood Cemetery records except one infant in 1902. Mary Seymour 08/06/1871 8 days died after 12 hours of convulsions, d/o George Seymour & Mary nee Galvin. Andrew Robert Trotter 18/06/1871 3 months died after 4 days of fever, s/o John Trotter and Margaret nee Linklater. Charles Jervis 15/07/1871 57 Cook, acute pneumonia. Elizabeth Ann Walker 19/07/1871 35 died after 10 hours in childbirth. John Adams 20/07/1871 34 Miner, killed by accident. Elizabeth Clarke 15/08/1871 35 Domestic Servant, died after 4 weeks of acute gastritis. James Manson 18/09/1871 2 died after two days of convulsions, s/o Daniel Manson and Mary nee Cluskey. William Henry Peters 26/10/1871 4 months died of a fever, s/o Samuel Peters and Catherine nee Arnfield. John Pritchard 02/12/1871 40 Miner, died after one week of fever. Hock Johnson 26/01/1872 32 Publican, consumption. Ole Olsen 05/02/1872 31 Miner and Carter, natural causes. George Chapman 08/02/1872 40 Chemist, paralysis of the lungs. Thomas Benjamin Chad 22/03/1872 12 months died from convulsions over 12 hours. Edward Jones 14/04/1872 27 chronic dysentery. Thomas Jones 24/06/1872 40 Miner, inflammation of the bowels.
