I consulted the book "Peopling the North American City Montreal 1840-1900" by Sherry Olson and Patricia Thornton (McGIll-Queen's Press, 2011) and examined 20 references to members of the Beattie family. Most of the references were for Beatties from Scotland and New York State. Two are of interest to my research. Page 388 footnote 27 reads "Loyalists from Albany, Charlotte, Tryon counties New York...James Beattie and Thomas Beattie, Jr."

The other reference is found on page 438 footnote 66 and reads "William Beattie, Dunham, raised eight children (oldest born in Vermont) and one son had ten children." I do appreciate receiving your thoughts about these two quotations.
