- Catharine Brent (grandmother of Sarah P. Beverley) gave Sarah and her husband Robert G. Beverley two slaves to used for the rest of their lives in 1838: Kitty age 18 and Robert age 7.[8]

- Dec. 26, 1836 "On the motion of Fayette Posey It is ordered that Thomas Towles John Green George Robertson and William D Allison be appointed commissioners (any threeof whom being first duly sworn may act) to divide the Negroes between Robert G Beverly and William P Beverly which were left to them by Mrs. Fitshugh."[10]
- Jan. 23, 1837 "The Commissioners appointed at the last Term of this Court to divide certain Negroes between Robert G Beverley and William P Beverly heirs of William Beverly dec'd this day made their report which is ordered to be recorded"[11]

Report that they valued the said Negroes and divided them as equally as we could and allotted by lot to Robert Beverley the Negroes Maria, Henry, Thomas, Lucy, Agnes the 7th, John, George.”[12]

1864 Compiled Military Service Records
At least four of Robert G. Beverly's slaves enlisted in the Civil War.
- Clem enlisted in the 28th US Colored Infantry. He was transferred to Co. G. of the 29th US Colored Infantry on Oct. 21, 1864 and was promoted to the rank of Corporal. for 2 months, then was reduced to the rank of Private.[14][15]
- Note--not sure this is the same Clem who was owned by Robert G. Beverly.
- Frank enlisted in Co. F of the 118th US Colored Infantry.[16]
- George enlisted in Co. F of the 118th US Colored Infantry.[17]
- Henry enlisted in Co. E of the 118th US Colored Infantry.[18]
