The second book is the most authoritative book on German surnames: Etymologisches Wörterbuch der Deutschen Familiennamen.(= Etymological Dictionary of German Surnames) ---- author: Josef Karlmann Brechenmacher.(Lieferung 11-21 = Zweiter Band = 1960-63 K-Z., p427)
One of the entries is the name Röm(m)ig, Römmich, which derives from Remigius, with the comment “besonders in der Pfalz” (= especially in the Palatinate).
