Commentary

Despite its name, the contents of this book focus more on the "branches" than on the "roots" of Elvis Presley, sharing stories and photographs of the various branches of Elvis' family, but very little on Elvis' direct-line ancestry. When specific dates and places are mentioned, no sourcing is provided to support the claims. For genealogical research purposes, this book may offer clues for future research, but is mostly a collection of the author's and others' memories and photos about people indirectly related to Elvis Presley.

One exception is an extensive exploration (starting on page 33; unfortunately unsourced) into the possible father of Elvis's grandfather, Jesse Presley. Riley proposes that he was John Wallace and that John Wallace had a long-term relationship with Rosella Presley, great-grandmother of Elvis.
