The goal of this project is to catalogue and create a wikitree profile for all the members of the 9th New York Heavy Artillery Regiment, which served in the Union Army during the American Civil War, and connect them to the main family tree.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help. Profiles with links already have a wikitree page that I know of. Please add the persons not on wikitree yet.

A good source to use is

  • Roe, Alfred S. The Ninth New York Heavy Artillery. A History of Its Organization, Services in the Defenses of Washington, Marches, Camps, Battles, and Muster-out ... and a Complete Roster of the Regiment. Worcester, MA: Author, 1899. Print. https://archive.org/details/ninthnewyorkheav00roea

It has the rosters for the companies which list the men and for most of them the birth year, enlistment, discharge, if killed, died, or deserted, and hometown at enlistment. Some of the more notable people have a special biography section which has a lot of information.
