In the name of god Amen the twenty fourth day of April In the fifth year of the reign of Queen Anne by the grace of god over England Anno Domini 1706 I Thomas Rotheram of Ridgeway in the parish of Eckington and County of Derby yeoman being weak in infirm in body but of sound mind and memory praised be god do make constitute and appoint this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following first I give and bequeath my soul to Almighty god my Creator and redeemer and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors and friends and as concerning such worldly estate as it hath pleased god to bestow upon me I give and bequeath as followeth first I give to Thomas Rotheram of Mosborough all that parcel of land in the possession of John Bellamy with the housing belong to it lying in Handsworth Woodhouse also I give unto Ann Rotheram of Mosborough all that parcel of land now in the possession of Joshua Berks lying in Woodhouse aforesaid Also I give unto the said Ann Rotheram my niece twenty pounds in money also I give unto Mary Newbould of Troway a parcel of land lying in Mosborough being a close called Harberforth and one acre in Lee field now in the possession of Thomas Rotheram Also I give unto William Rotheram of Mosborough one hundred pounds Also I give unto my brother Gilbert Rotheram of Mosborough thirty pounds Also I give unto five Children of my sister Catherine Shepherd eleven pounds that is to say three pounds to her son and forty shillings apiece to the four daughters I give unto John Smith of Handsworth Woodhouse thirty shillings and to Elizabeth Berks thirty shillings my sister in law Also I give unto Joshua Berks my kinsman thirty shillings I give unto Joseph Berks my kinsman or to his heirs forty shillings Also I give unto the teaching of two poor children in Ridgeway quarter till they can read English and then others to change their place and so successfully for ever the sum of ten pounds or for want of payment of the money to enter to the house in Ridgeway wherein I now dwell my meaning is that the interest pay full wage for the two children After the decease of my executor the overseer and churchwarden to take care of it Also I give unto William Rotheram my Brother and to William Newbould of Troway twenty shillings apiece debts legacies and funeral charges paid all the Rest of my estate I give unto my cousin Thomas Rotheram of Mosborough whom I make my sole executor of this my last will and testament revoking all former wills by me made I declare and publish this to be my last will and testament and hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written
