In the name of god Amen the sixth day of July in the seventh year of the reign of Queen Anne queen of Great Britain Anno Domini 1709 I William Rotheram of Ridgeway in the parish of Eckington and County of Derby yeoman being reasonable well and of sound mind and memory praised be god do make constitute and appoint this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following first I give and bequeath my soul to Almighty god my Creator and Redeemer and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor and friends And as concerning such worldly estate As it hath pleased god to bestow upon me I give And bequeath As followeth first I give and bequeath unto my cousin Thomas Rotheram of Mosborough all that parcel of land lying in Killamarsh commonly called Salterford meadow to him and his heirs for ever he paying to his brother William Rotheram the sum of thirty pounds for want of which payment he the said William shall enter on the said meadow till such time as the thirty pounds be paid Also I give unto my brother Gilbert Rotheram or his heirs the sum of twenty pounds Also I give unto my cousin Mary Newbould all that parcel of land lying in Mosborough commonly called Harberforth with one half acre of arable land lying in Lee field And all the Right and title of that parcel of land my brother Thomas Rotheram left to her and her heirs forever and for want of heirs of her body then to the Right heirs of William Rotheram for ever Also I give unto my cousin Anne Cadman the sum of forty pounds Also I give unto the children of my sister Catherine Shepherd the sum of five pounds to be Equally divided amongst them Also I give and bequeath the house and all the yard and convenients belonging lying in Ridgeway or the rent thereof for the teaching of poor children in the upper quarter to read after my debts and legacies and funeral charges paid all the Rest of my estate I give unto my cousin Thomas Rotheram and his brother William Rotheram who I make my sole executors of this my last will revoking all former wills by me made I declare and publish this to my last will and testament and hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written
