Now in ruins, Lunkhofen was a castle or fortress on a hill during the Middle Ages in what is now known as Ruine Lunkhofen, or Ruins of Lunkhofen. The von Lunkhofen, and Snewli (Schnebeli) families were associated with this location during the 12th through the 15th centuries.
