I can find no records between 1749 and 1793 to fill in the gaps and determine whether John Power is my gggg grandfather or ggggg grandfather. If he is my ggggg grandfather, I’d love to know the name of my gggg grandfather (father of my ggg grandfather Antonium Power born about 1770.
Perhaps there are others researching the Power, Cotton, Murphy, Conroy, Rush, Narry and McDermott families who lived on the townland of Runnaruag, County Roscommon in the years from about 1700 to 1800, who might be able to shed some light on my Power family ancestors
My great great great grandparents, Antonium Power and Eleanor Cotton (both born about 1770) lived on the Townland of Runnaruag, Parish of Elphin, Barony of Roscommon, County Roscommon, Ireland.
Searching for information and/or family members with ancestors who lived on the Townland of Runnaruag to help break down my brickwalls with Antonium Power and Eleanor Cotton.
Specifically looking for family connections to my ancestors as follows:-
1. 1749 Census of Elohin - John Power, his wife and three children lived at Runoghue (Runnaruag), Elohim, County Roscommon.
2. Ireland Diocesan and Prerogative Marriage Licence Bonds - In 1793, one of John’s descendants (son/grandson) Antonium (Anthony) Power married Eleanor (Helenor/Eleanora/Ellen) Cotton at Eire, Ireland, within the Diocese of Elphin, County Roscommon.
3. Ireland, Catholic Parish Records 1655 - 1915. From 1793 to about 1820, Antonium Power and Eleanor Cotton (both born about 1770) had a number of children who were baptised in the Catholic Church within the Diocese of Elohim, Roscommon, Ireland. The family lived on property number 2 - one of the farms in the Townland of Runnaruag.
4. Ireland, Catholic Parish Records 1655 - 1915 - Antonium Power and Eleanor Cotton baptised one of their sons Antonium Power on 3rd July, 1809.
5. Roots Ireland Church Baptism Records - Antonium Power (born 1809) married Eleanor McManaway some time before 1838, when their son Johanes Power was baptised on 1st January, 1838 with their residence listed as “Rinnarogue”. A second child Eleanor was baptised in 1839 with the residence listed as “Renerogue”.
6. Migration records - Children of Anthony Power/Eleanor Cotton migrated to Australia in 1849. Individual records of the children show that both their parents were deceased at that time.
7. Ireland, Griffith’s Valuation 1847 - 1864. Townland of Runnaruag, Elphin, County Roscommon. James Murphy is listed as Lessor of five properties. Occupiers of properties listed as - 1a - Thomas Conry 2a - Ellen Power 3a - Thomas Rush 4a - Thomas Narry 5a - Christr. MCDermott. The Ellen Power listed in property 2a is Eleanor McManaway - the widow of Antonium Power (born 1809).
I would love to discover the connection between John Power (in the 1749 Census) and Antonium Power who married Eleanor Cotton in 1793 - both families lived on the townland of Runnaruag. I can find no records between 1749 and 1793 to fill in the gaps.
