The Arawa I, a clipper-type steamship, was the first steamship in the Shaw, Savill fleet, built in 1884, ca 5000 tons.

She traveled to New Zealand carrying passengers, including the Campbell family from Campbeltown, Argyll, Scotland in 1914.

After 31 years' service under various owners she was sunk by submarine in 1915.
