I, Fredrick Corning Grabner, being of the age of 40 years , hereby apply for membership in this Society by right of lineal descent in the following line from Hawkins Hart, who was born in Wallingford (Meriden), Connecticut, on the ? day of February 1736, and died in Barkhamsted, Connecticut, on the 26th day of May 1824, and who assisted in establishing American Independence.
I was born in Warren, County of Jo Daviess, State of Illinois, on the 5th day of October 1886

My ancestor's services in assisting in the establishment of American Independence during the War of the Revolution were as follows:
Hawkins Hart, commissioned an Army Lieutenant in the 5th Company, Colonel Douglas' Regiment, June 1776. This regiment was in the Battle of Long Island - at the defense of New York; at the Battle of White Plains; he is said to have served at other times. Was then of Southington Parish; came to Barkhamsted about 1788. Buried at "Center". (Lee's Catalogue of Barkhamsted Men in the Various Wars - page 20)
