Research Questions
- Is Samuel the father of William Julian Julian-1634?
- Who were Samuel's parents?
- Was his surname Julin or Julein at birth and then the family changed it to Julian (and then later Julien)?
- Is this a Julien line out of England? Or another French line?
Research Notes
In 1820 in Wayne, Warren County, Ohio, USA there is a P Julin noted. Below him is a Samuel, with no surname listed so I'm assuming it's the same last name. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XHLS-RWZ
- P Julin has 2 males under 10; 2 males 10-15; 2 males 26-44; 2 females under 10; 1 female 45 and over. All white individuals. 1 engaged in agriculture.
- Samuel, listened under P Julin, while probably not the Samuel of this mystery profile, very likely is related to P Julin. His household included 1 male 16-18/16-25; 1 male 26-44; 1 female 26-44; 1 female 45 and over. All white individuals. 2 engaged in agriculture.
Possible brother of Samuel was married in the same area just a few years before Samuel. The name is Abel Julian. Some online trees put his father as Elihu. If this is true, then this is not a relation as Elihu is a descendant of Rene. Here are the marriage records for Abel just in case he is not connected to Elihu.

Samuel Julian married Betsey (Elizabeth) Runyon on 24 October 1827 in Warren County, Ohio. Note that the documents state the name is spelled Julein. There is another set of the same documents that put his first name as Peter. The wife's name is exactly the same, so I'm guessing his name may have been Samuel Peter or Peter Samuel and would later only go by Samuel. Or it's a transcription error and the transcriber saw Samuel's father's name for the signature. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:ZZP4-F4MM https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2QQY-7SY
