Born 1744 in Barnes on the river Thmase , John was son of Jeremiah Hornblow , a Malster of Halstead Essex & wife Mary. Apprenticed in 1760 to John Rushton Looking Glass Frame Maker of Phillips Lane London, he married Elizabeth Young by Licence 13 Jan 1775 at St George Church Botolph Lane London, not far from Tower Hill.

As a Master Looking Glass Frame Maker he had a workshop first in Maidenhead Court of Aldersgate Street and later in Phillip Lane, London Wall. In 1779 John was ordained as Baptist minister and given the living in Braintree Essex. Their children were 1776 John Died 1776 of convulsions as an infant buried St Giles Cripplegate 1777 Rachel Died 1799 age 22 buried Bocking Nonconformist churchyard 1781 John EDB apprenticed to William Spencer 6 Apr 1797, Grocers' Company 1783 Anne baptised 1804 age 21 Married 1804 in Bocking to Stephen Brown. 1784 Jeremiah died young ? 1785 Mary She died and was buried 19 Nov 1789 in Bocking Nonconformist churchyard 1789 Sarah Married 4 times and in 1820 she was one of the Settlers in the Eastern Cape of South Africa with her 2nd 'husband' John Cadle. Sarah Hornblow /Moore/ Cadle/Thomas /Gurney died SA 3rd November 1843 age 54. 1790 William baptised age 12 in 1802 at St. Michael the Archangel Braintree. 1791 Jeronimo born -died age 4 on 22 Feb 1795. Burial 26 Feb 1795 buried Bocking Nonconformist churchyard 1794 Lydia married to 7 March 1814 to Edward Hayward of Saffron Walden, 1795 Hannah baptised age 21 in 1816 shortly before her marriage to Lloyd Henry Standish on 23 Aug 1816 St Lukes Old Street Finsbury 1805 Ebenezer apprenticed to Ebenezer Hornblow a silversmith & jeweller of Thavies Inn Holborn in 1820
