This Indenture made this 10th day of January In Dom, One Thousand Eight hundred & thirty three --- between Britton Woodard of the County of Northampton state of N Carolina of the first part & Sally Maddrey of the County & State of the second part and of James H. Wood of the County & State aforesaid of the third part, Witnesseth that whereas a marriage is shortly intended to be had and –iged between the said Britton Woodard and the said Sally Mandrey in consideration of the said Marriage about to be had and further in consideration of the sum of one Dollar by the said James H. Wood to the said Sally Maddrey in hand paid the receipt whereof the said Sally doth hereby acknowledge –an further in consideration of the natural love and affection which the said Sally bears for and toward her children Ishmael Coker and Nancy Lassiter and to Henry T. Lassiter her grandson the said Sally & Britton --- bargained granted and sold and to these presents doth bargain for and --- unto the said James H Wood the following property viz, Negroes Caroline, Edy and Elizah, two head of Horses, seven head of cattle, fifteen head of hogs and all of the other property, now in possession of the said Sally--- of House Hold and Kitchen furniture, plantation utensils of every ---tion, stock of provisions (viz) Pork corn and fodder, together with all the property now in possession of the said Sally, of every kind, within or without ---rs doors and S’d Sally Interest in the land whereon she now lives and --- due or owing To have and to hold the same to him the said James H Wood and his Heirs forever Upon Trust Wortheness for the purposes hereinafter ---fied and for no other or further purposes whatever (to wit) That so soon as the marriage aforesaid shall be solemnized the said James H. shall hold the aforesaid property soley and exclusively for the sole and separate use and behoof of the said Sally during her life and the said James H. shall pay to the said --- or to order only all or any part of the profits or underments which may – the bargained premises and the said James H shall at any time during the life of said Sally convey all or any part of the aforesaid property to the said Sally or to any other person or persons said in such manner as --- by written orders under her own proper hand alone direct giving the said James H. a reasonable time only in which to execute proper conveyance the same and the said James H. in the event that the said Sally --- the said Britton --- and the said Sally shall have disposed of the --- premises in the --- our herebefore expressed only the last will & testament of the said Sally, shall convey all the aforesaid property, then remaining --- (viz) Negroes Willis & --- to Ishmial Coker & his heirs, negroes --- --- to Nancy Lassiter & her heirs, one Bed and furniture & stead to Henry --- and all the balance to Ishmeal Coker and Nancy Lassiter Children of said Sally as may be best --- him the said said James H. at the time of --- of the said Sally to the said Ishmeal & Nancy share and share alike and to their Heirs forever, and the said James H shall be allowed f—trouble occasioned him by this trust a reasonable and equitable --- whether the bargained premises be disposed of by the said Sally in her lifetime or shall be conveyed as herein before directed to be conveyed after the --- of the said Sally and it is fully and clearly the understanding ---ment of all the parties hereto that the said Sally is to exercise all the--- having set forth with or without the consent or concurrence of the said Britton or any other person or persons whatever. In witness whereof we have hereto signed our several names and subscribed several names the day and --- above written.
