Deed of gift from Satterwhite to Hanie [sic]
Know all men by them presents that I Thomas Satterwhite of the County of Ouachita and State of Arkansas for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I bear unto my daughter Martha Ann Haynie the wife of Wilburn Haynie of Columbia County in said state and for the further consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid by the said Martha Ann at and before the sealing and delivery of them presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have give, grant, bargain, sell and deliver unto my said daughter Martha Ann Haynie a certain woman named Rhoda about twenty years of age, dark complected [sic] and her infant male child named Pink dark complected [sic], aged about six months, to have and to hold the said negroes as slaves for life, to the said Martha Ann and the heirs of her body lawfully begotten to her sole and separate use, exempt from the debts, liabilities, contracts or control of her said husband in any manner done or suffered.
In testimony where of I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the first day of March AD 1854.

Deed of gift from Thomas Satterwhite to J. Satterwhite
Know all men by them presents that I Thomas Satterwhite of the County of Ouachita and State of Arkansas for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I bear unto my son James Satterwhite and for the further consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of them presents the James Satterwhite receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have given, granted, bargained, sold and delivered and by them present to give, grant, bargain, sell and deliver unto the said James Satterwhite a certain negro man named Peter dark complected [sic] about twenty two years of age, to have and to hold the said negro as a slave for life, to the said James S. and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten and in case my said son shall die without such heirs of his body then said negro to pass to and be divided among all his brothers and sisters them living or the children of such as be dead, taking in equal parts the portion of their deceased parent.
