600 of the 2000 images were uploaded to the site for the 2019 Scanathon in the 3 day event. Sunny days ( 30 C. ) meant having to choose the aspect continually. Early morning photo shoots were best. Mid Day shoots were over powering and evening shots were mosquito field days.

The heat - 30 degrees.

The time taken to remove flowers/memorabilia etc for a clear shot. Remembering to replace same! Recording which area has been shot to avoid duplicates. Interaction with visitors and endless explanation of what I am doing. Angle of the sun for good shots means constantly moving areas. Keep a record! 3 days is too short a time frame Should have planned this better! Opening and closing hours have to be respected! bummer.

Thank you Darren. This duplicate site for the Waiuku Cemetery will eventually be deleted once the information is complete and the contents merged with the Official site run by

Lianne. 600 of the 2000 images have been uploaded. A work in progress.

What you need to try and do now Arthur is give these lovely photos some profiles so if people search for their family they will be able to see your great photos. Do it next week, No hurry.

Well done Arthur. You took on a big project here. Yes keeping my own shadow out of the shot on those long sunny days is difficult, and the angle of the sun can make some hard to read - the ones with highly reflective surfaces!. I have had to try a few different angles, and do retakes in order to get some shots clear for transcription later. I now have a bit of a cemetery kit that I take with me, which includes a bucket, a soft brush, secateurs, a bottle of spray water (no bleach allowed!) and a sponge. I also take a drink bottle for me, and sometimes something to lean on.

I look forward to seeing more of your contributions as times go on! Lianne
