The name Schamp has seen plenty of other spellings including Shamp, Schamp, Schomp, etc.
Most Schamp families continue to use Schamp up to the early 1900's. My research has found both "des Champs" and "Schamp" to be acceptable for Pierre des Champs/Pieter Schamp. I am inclined to adopt the LNAB for this individual as "des Champs" as it currently is and the following generations as Schamp.

As far as I know Schimpf is no known surname in Belgium nor Flanders and IMHO has nothing to do with Schamp. Schimpf means scold in German language.
