Goal
The goal of this Team is to make all County profiles the best that they can be. It is our desire to leave a lasting legacy of work for future generations by sourcing, connecting and growing our County branches of the tree.
The Scotland Project works on the ideal of Quality over Quantity for all of the work we do. Ideally when you complete any work on a profile you should strive to ensure that the profile is complete when you finish it. The basics we would like you to cover...
- Does the profile have a full and complete Biography?
- Is the profile adequately sourced?
- Have you added appropriate location and occupation categories?
- Before you complete have you removed any categories and templates that are no longer needed? For example unsourced templates and/or maintenance categories.

They should only be in this category if all the information needed to create the new profiles are included within the Biography or Research Notes. Some profiles will just have 1 or 2 profiles needing created others may have an entire line of profiles to be created.
Please DO NOT assume that whoever has entered this information on the profile has checked thoroughly to see if they have a profile already. There is also the possibility that even if they have checked at the time that the profile hasnt been created since that time by being linked to another person. The overall aim of WikiTree is to create one Global Family Tree. In the process of this it does mean that there are a number of "trees" that are not currently connected to the main Global Family Tree.
This section tells us which profiles are either on a smaller tree which is not connected to the Global Family Tree or for those profiles which are not linked to any profiles at all.
Looking at the table above, the numbers in the century columns are the numbers of profiles that need worked on to be connected to the global tree, the first row being those with connections, the second row having no connections at all.
Confusingly the reports for both rows will be titled as Unconnected Report, however the reports on the second row will be profiles that have no connections whatsoever.
On the reports from the first row you will see the individual profiles that have an event in Berwickshire. These profiles may or may not have all their immediate links on them so to add them to the Global tree you may have to look at the wider "mini tree" it belongs to. In the column on the far right hand side you will se a hyperlink that will be "tree" followed by a long number. If you right click on the link and open it in a new tab or window. This will allow you to see a report with all the people on that tree irrespective of their location while keeping your original report open.

Needs GEDCOM Cleanup
Profiles that were uploaded to WikiTree via a GEDCOM file, leave behind what is typically known as GEDCOM junk.
If you use the WikiTree Browser Extension app (WBE) then usually these profiles can be quickly cleaned using the apps clean function. It is always important to note that the cleanup can create Research Notes for items that need checked from the clean. If you use the cleanup function please ensure that you check these warnings and delete them once you have checked and dealt with any points they may raise.
There are occasions when the cleanup function will not work this can be due to sections being added in since the upload which then means the cleanup function cannot recognise what is junk and what needs to be kept. In these cases the cleanup needs to be done manually.
To clean a profile manually you will need to have knowledge of span parameters, how they work and how to deal with them. Often there can be information contained within the span perameters that can link to various sources. However how complete this information is depends on what information was contained in the GEDCOM to start with.
