Our purpose is to collect, preserve and produce information about Scotland's people and history and make it available to inform current and future generations. We were established on 1 April 2011, following the merger of the General Register Office for Scotland and the National Archives of Scotland.
Records available include:
- Statutary Records (Births, Marriages, & Deaths) from Scotland, 1855-Present
- Old Parish Records - Registers of baptisms, marriages and burials before 1855
- Registers of baptisms, marriages and burial from the Scottish Roman Catholic Church before 1855
- Census records of Scotland
Research on the site is free, but you must register to download actual documents. Viewing and copying all documents is provided for a fee.
