The following pension statements suggest there may have been three men named Joseph Scott receiving a war pension and living in Amelia County.
- 1786 Major Joseph Scott and Archibald Compton are the only pensioners in Amelia County.[44]
- 1788 Joseph Scott Jr was given a pension for life from 1 Jan 1792 as a result of war wounds[45]
- 1789 Caotain Joseph Scott awarded a pension of £72 a year from 1 Jan 1789.[46]
- William Worsham served under 2nd Lieutenant Joseph Scott in 1775. He was then a resident of Amelia, but much of his time was spent in Chesterfield County.[47]

Partial transcription from the 1758 chancery case referred to above, page 6 “ To the worshipful his _Justice of Amelia County sitting in Chancery _ complaining __ Orator and oratrix John Scott and Judith Scott the said John her guardian and next friend [i.e. closest telative] that your orator & oratrix’ s father, Joseph Scott, decd. late of the said county of Amelia, being in his lifetime, and at the time of his death possessed of a considerable estate both real & personal departed this life having just made his last Will and testament in writing, by which the said Joseph Scott did appoint his widow & relict Sarah (who has since intermarried with Robert Jones)and George Carrery[?] =son Executors thereof all of estate [something inked over] trix friday [can’t read this bit] that this bill of complaint Your Orator & Oratrix further & herewith unto you [crossed out?] that the said executrix filed the said Will and looked for [can’t read] Executeix thereof your orator & oratrix for their shares thereunto your worshipes that your orator & oratrix [can’t read] the said Joseph Smith exparted this life [?] the month of December in the year of our Lord 175u having a considerable heap of corn, oats, pease of [?]of two hundred pounds current money and [?] all which [?] by executors did possess …”
