- Sexton, A. P. to Sarah E. Gardner 26 NOV 1855
- Sexton, Albigerm P. to Juliaette Gurney 28 MAR 1849
- Sexton, Charles to Louisa Carpenter 11 JUL 1845
- Sexton, James to Catharine Stiple / Siple 21 APR 1860
Albigence is presumed the A. P. Sexton who died Toledo, 1902, reporting his birth at Vermont, 1825.[death certificate] He married at least twice at St. Clair Co., Michigan, first on 28 Mar 1849 to Julette Gurney (both residents of St. Clair) [2][1], and married second to Sarah E. Gardner on 26 Nov 1855 at Burtchville, St. Clair Co., MI [3][1]
At 1850, he may be the A. Sacton aged 27 living at a boarding house or work camp at St. Clair, St. Clair Co., Michigan. [4]
He is most assuredly the A. P. Sexton living with his second wife at Burtchville (P.O. Lakeport), St. Clair Co., Michigan in the 1860 Census living with daus. Emma (4, b. MI) and Juliet (age 10, b. MI). Juliet seems the dau. of his first wife. He is a blacksmith, aged 35 b. NY (RE: 400/PA: 3700) also living there is 17 year old Anna M. Gardner. [5]
By c1872, the family had moved to Ohio where a dau. Blanch was b. in Apr 1872.[6][8] A dau. Florence was born to A. P. and Sarah c1865 [6]
Albigence was a Justice of the Peace at St. Clair Co.; he performed any number of marriages at St. Clair Co. in that capacity between the mid 1850's and the mid-1860's.[11] He and/or his wife were witness to still other marriages at St. Clair Co. in this time period. [12]
In the census of 1880, A. P. and Sarah were living at Toledo. "Albert Sexton" was aged 50, born Vermont; he reported his occupation as "fire insurance." Dau. Emma and her husband, therein "Harry" Brown lived with the couple. Also living there were two unmarried daughters, Florence (age 15, b. MI) and Blanch (age 8, b. OH). [6]
The family was still of Toldedo at the time of the 1900 census. "Albigence Sexton" was reported as his father-in-law, age 64, b. Nov 1827, VT. His wife, Sarah E. was reported b. Apr 1836 at Canada. Sarah reported she had had five children and that three survived. Two of her daughters were recorded with them in the census, viz.: Emma, therein b. Sept 1856 (MI), the wife of "Hiram Brown" (HOH); and Blanche S. Mantz, a widow b. Apr 1872 (OH). [8]
A. P. died between 1900 and 1910, probably at Toledo, Lucas Co., OH. His wife Sarah was reported a widow at Toledo in the census of 1910; she was living with her widowed dau. Blanch Mantz. [9]
