About the Project

This One Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Shea name and it's variations. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Shea name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Sheas), by time period (18th Century Sheas), or by topic (Shea DNA, Shea Occupations, Shea Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

NOTE: Even though this ONS is using "Shea", please consult related surnames and surname variants to see all included in this project.

Goals

  1. This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about one surname and the variants of that name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.
  2. Document and correctly connect all Shea/variants lines on Wikitree.
  3. Add Shea DNA results to help confirm connections.
  4. Create a meaningful bio for each profile so that it represents a person's life.
  5. Source profiles that are currently unsourced.
  6. Develop a reference library specifically for SHEA/variants genealogy research.

How to Join

  1. This is an open public project there are no requirements to join.
